The United Way’s Community Impact goals focus on Education, Financial Stability, and Health — the building blocks for a good life. Everyone deserves an opportunity to have a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income and savings to support a family through retirement, and good health.
- Early Childhood Education: 68% of children in Shawnee County entering kindergarten will have the pre-literacy skills necessary for educational success
- On Grade Achievement: Reduce by 50% the achievement gap in 3rd grade reading and 6th grade math for our most vulnerable children
- Financial Stability: Improve the financial stability of families and individuals in Shawnee County
- Eat, Move, Live: Improve the health and wellness of Shawnee County residents by increasing access to healthy food and beverage choices and opportunities to achieve the recommended amount of physical activity
Supporting Basic Needs remains a foundation of our work. These needs include rent and utilities, food, health assistance/prescriptions and safety from domestic violence.
