Health Foundation Grant Moves Imagination Library in Shawnee County Closer to Long-Term Sustainability
Thank you for supporting nearly 5,000 young readers in Shawnee County! Help us reach the other 6,000.
The response to the Imagination Library in Shawnee County over the first two years has been amazing! Right now there are around 5,000 kiddos from birth to age 5 receiving a free book in the mail every month! And it’s only possible because of generous partners and individual donors right here in our community!
Get the details in the current annual report produced by our partner, the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
While the program is free to participants, regardless of income, local partners, like United Way and the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, must cover postage and administrative costs of the program (about $30 a year for one child).
You can help ensure the success of the Imagination Library right here by designating part of your annual United Way pledge or by making a standalone gift.
- Just $30 provides a year of books for one child.
- $150 provides 5 years of books for one child.

More books in more homes means more children ready to succeed when they walk through the door on the first day of kindergarten!
