Support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Thank you for supporting more than 4,600 young readers in Shawnee County!

The response to the Imagination Library in Shawnee County over the first 18 months has been amazing! Right now there are 4,666 kiddos from birth to age 5 receiving a free book in the mail every month! And it’s only possible because of generous partners and individual donors right here in our community!

To learn more about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, visit their website. If you are a parent or guardian wanting to enroll a child, please visit unitedwaytopeka.org/imagination.

While the program is free to participants, regardless of income, local partners, like United Way and the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, must cover postage and administrative costs of the program (about $30 a year for one child).

You can help ensure the success of the Imagination Library right here by designating part of your annual United Way pledge or by making a standalone gift.

  • Just $30 provides a year of books for one child.
  • $150 provides 5 years of books for one child.

Or, If you are interested in making a major investment in long-term sustainability of the Imagination Library and early literacy in our community, please contact Wendy Coonrod at wendy.coonrod@unitedwaytopeka.org or 785.228.5123.

More books in more homes means more children ready to succeed when they walk through the door on the first day of kindergarten!
