Eat, Move, Live
Better health leads to a higher quality of life and lower healthcare costs for everyone. Consider that obesity contributes to heart disease, cancer, stroke and high blood pressure and that obese adults cost $1,400 more per year in medical care than non-obese adults. In Northeast Kansas 31.2 percent of adults are considered obese. We’re working to:
- Promote and support affordable healthy food and beverage choices
- Facilitate, support, and encourage increased physical activity
We advocate for policy changes that allow all people to have healthier living options. We fight alongside like-minded groups to help at-risk neighborhoods build a brighter future, in part though our Neighborhood Opportunity for Wellness initiative, supported by a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation.
