Our goal is a healthy community, but many of us struggle with access to healthy food and ways to stay fit and active.
United Way knows that a majority of Shawnee County residents are considered overweight or obese, and only 20% of adults get the recommended amount of physical activity.
In addition to supporting opportunities for free physical fitness and nutrition education, we advocate for policy changes that allow all people to have healthier living options. We fight alongside like-minded groups to help at-risk neighborhoods build a brighter future, in part through our Neighborhood Opportunity for Wellness (NOW) initiative.
NOW is funded by a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation.
